CASE STUDY: LIFE AFTER BRITISH GOT THE ACADIAN LAND

One thing that changed immediately is that every person in Acadia automatically got a British citizenship. Even if the people did not want a British citizenship, they were forced to get one. One thing that did not change at all is that they all continued speaking French and going to the Catholic Church even though they were citizens of an English-speaking country. Something that gradually changed is that eventually, they were banned from selling crops to the French because the English got mad that their own citizens were selling and feeding the enemy forts. Another thing that gradually changed is the population. The population changed gradually from 2500 to 14 000 gradually for 4 years after the treaty was signed. The Acadians were offered a free move to a new France island called Cape Breton, but they did not want to because the farms that they lived on has been in their families for years. They also denied the offer because more of the 75% of the population in Cape Breton was an elderly, so there were very few people who were able to help the new settlers make farms and houses. The offer was very appealing to the Acadians because since they did not want to be British citizens, they could move and be French citizens. One thing that did not change for Acadians is that if they moved to New France, they still kept many farm animals including Cows, Goats and chickens.

Thank you very much from my sources for making this case study possible.
