The effects on Black loyalist

The effects on black loyalists
This war gave black Canadians the hope of being freed if they fought for the British during the war. Richard Peirpoint was a black loyalist who escaped slavery. He also fought for the British during the American Revolution. Richard Peirpoint made a petitioned to create a company of all black soldiers. Black soldiers who fought for the British during the war faced discrimination even though they were free. Black people also served as pioneers and instead of fighting, they worked to help rebuild bridges and roads and repair forts for the military. Overall Black people still faced discrimination even though they were free and on the British military working the same amount as anyone else. At the end of the war, they also received less compensation as everyone else who fought alongside them.
