The effects on First Nations
This is part of the War of 1812 series
The effects on First Nations
During the war, more than 10 000 First Nations soldiers from many groups across North America aligned themselves with the British because they wanted to stop American expansion on their land. Though the First Nations fought in many significant battles for the British, they stopped making military alliances with the First Nations. The British didn’t give any of their land back, and also didn’t consult with the First Nations about the treaty again. Even though the British tried to give some land to the First Nations the United States refused and the British didn’t fight, And the treaty was signed leaving the First Nations with practically no land. The British didn’t stop obtaining land from the First Nations for British settlers. To this day the First Nations still suffer from the consequences from the War of 1812.
